Answering the Call: Supporting Those in Need in Our Nashville Community

Madison Campus Church is proud to serve as a beacon of hope and support through our Adventist Community Services, fulfilling the biblical call to care for those in need. Throughout Scripture, we see a powerful mandate to extend love, kindness, and compassion to those around us, especially to the vulnerable and the marginalized—the homeless, the widows, and all those who face challenges in life.

This calling isn’t simply a suggestion; it’s an essential part of our faith and Christian identity. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus tells us, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” In following Christ's example, we respond to His directive with a sense of urgency and love, seeking to lift the burdens of those in our community and meet them where they are with grace and understanding.

A Biblical Foundation for Service

From the Old Testament to the New Testament, the Bible is rich with verses that urge believers to extend compassion and care. Isaiah 1:17 says, “Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” We are reminded that our faith is expressed not just in worship, but in action—through tangible, heartfelt service to those who need it most.

James 1:27 echoes this, stating, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” As followers of Christ, it is our duty to carry the light of His love into our communities, showing others His character through our actions. The Adventist Community Services strives to fulfill this call, reaching out to those who might feel forgotten or overlooked, and embracing them with the love and support of our church family.

Ellen White: “Be a Light in the Community”

Our commitment to service is further inspired by the writings of Ellen White, who emphasized the importance of practical Christianity. In her writings, she stressed the need for compassionate outreach, especially to those who are vulnerable and marginalized.

Ellen White reminds us that “the world needs today what it needed nineteen hundred years ago—a revelation of Christ.” She believed that Christ’s followers should live out their faith by supporting their communities in meaningful ways. In her book The Ministry of Healing, White states, “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence.” This wisdom shapes our approach to ministry: we not only meet people’s spiritual needs but also minister to their physical and emotional needs, striving to be a presence of warmth and help in their lives.

Our Mission at the Adventist Community Center

At Madison Campus Church, we are blessed to be able to fulfill our mission of "Love God, Love People and Serve the World" by serving our area through our Adventist Community Services. Here, we provide essential services and resources, offering food, clothing, and support to families and individuals who are experiencing hardship. From our outreach to the homeless to our Sabbath meals, our center aims to provide a safe space for everyone.

Each program we offer is an extension of Christ’s love and a tangible way to share His message. For those experiencing homelessness, we provide not only food and clothing but also connections to local resources that can help them get back on their feet. For the widows and single parents in our community, we offer a network of support—people who care about them and are there to listen, pray with them, and offer assistance. In doing so, we strive to remind each person of their inherent worth and dignity as children of God.
